  • boil some water, add some lemon juice and honey and sip.
  • It's phlegm. Tea with honey will coat your throat and gently bring you back to normal.
  • First, make sure you are drinking plenty of water. It sounds like you probably have allergies or the beginning of a cold. Some home remedies for a dry throat: Ginger: Peel the skin from a small ginger root. Slice the root into thin coins and place the pieces into a small pot of water. Boil the pieces to make tea. The tea should turn a yellowish (straw) or tan color. Add three tablespoons of your favorite honey to sweeten the tea. Sip the hot tea slowly. The tea gives a sharp tingle to the throat after swallowing it. After you sip it, gently clear your throat. This tea also works for trying to get your voice back after a cold. Honey/lemon juice Take several tablespoons of this mixture several times a day. Let it sit in your throat a little while. This remedy will also help alleviate that irritating throat "tickle." Lemon Add the juice of one lemon and one teaspoon of salt to one cup of warm water. Gargle three times a day for one minute.
  • People often get this when they wake up after having a cold. No matter where it came from, a shot of Dayquil will make it feel better. The medicine itself doesn't do much, but it's so think that it coats your throat and makes it feel better for a while.
  • I'm not too sure about the lemon water. Thats what I've been trying for the mucus from my allergies and its made my throat so dry and tight. Its hard to swallow now. I go to a allergist today and I hope he can help me. Maybe I get let you know later what to do.
  • throat lasange, or you could try drinking a glass of milk
  • I keep a glass of ice water next to me at all times, and take small sips from it. If your problem doesn't go away, or get worse, you should contact your medical care provider.
  • I would think that something like this occurs during the warm weather when people aren't drinking enough liquids. It would be preferable to drink plenty of water and juices. By avoiding or cutting down on milk and carbonated beverages, the sticky mucus in the throat will go away. Milk and soda tend to irritate the mucus membranes in the throat thereby producing too much mucus.
  • It's called "dehydration" and the easiest way to fix it is "drink more water". Not fruit juice, not soda/pop/soft drink, not koolaid, not tea or coffee, or any other thing ... just plain water. You should drink at least 1 litre per day. Some experts say you should drink 2 litres, but that depends on the person. Most people today are at least partially dehydrated and don't know it. Most people mistake the "thirst" trigger for hunger and eat something when really they need to have a glass of water.
  • If this happens more often in the mornings than at other times, you probably sleep with your mouth open. Especially during the Summer months, the humidity indoors takes a real beating from air conditioners. Try placing a large bowl of water in the room and see if that helps.
  • I have the same problem and dont know what to do. It's been going on for a week now and really bothers me. Cant swallow my own saliva, so cant breath while trying hard to swallow. Very frustrating.
