  • u should talk to your vet. Not taking him because he "bit" the vet is no excuse. They are used to being bitten and take precautions. Euthanizing him at home will cause him to suffer and die slowly and painfully.. The vet can do with one shot and it's over and he goes peacefully. Sounds like there is more to this story than this.. maybe you don't want to spend the money to see it done properly?
  • Sorry to hear that!! but no dog has to suffer!! the best thing to do is put him to sleep. or if you "really" love you dog that much then let him have his last days.
  • I am not a qualified vet, and so I can not answer this question. To be helpful, any vet would have compassion for the age and condition of your dog and handle the biting tendency accordingly. A biting 16 year old dog isn't the same as a much younger dog who is acting out of aggression. Your dog is probably in pain, or at least discomfort. Contact your vet and make arrangements to get more information so you can figure out what will be best for your dog. Good luck.
  • I'd sure consider it. You don't need a vet to tell you that he's in pain and has lived his best years.
  • As his owner you know more than anybody, except the dog himself, what his quality of life is like. If he is still enjoying most of his life, then he should be allowed to enjoy it. If most of the time he is *not* enjoying it, then that is when you should start thinking about euthanasing him.
  • I agree with most people. "What is his "Quality of Life". "Is he is pain?" I know how hard it is to be responsible for your beloved "friend". My dog is 12 and i will be asking basically the same question. 'when is it time?" Only YOU know what is best!
