Not at this point. I know there is a problem. Just not sure how large a problem. I am frankly not sure what to believe about it. People who make their point for or against it can skew things their way easily and I would not know the difference. I think we are getting warmer annually. Is it a major problem? I honestly don't know. In many years to come I am sure it probably will be.
-
No. I AM worried, however, about how mankind will adapt to the drastic changes that we are already seeing happen. The science is there. It's just sadly being used as a political and television ratings football. It's not that we're ignorant of this knowledge, we're just squandering it.
-
Yes I am. Its a big deal, and if nothing is done about it, the Earth is going to be really hurt in the future.
-
I'm more worried for my daughter and future generations than I am right now.
-
I am not particularly worried about it. Earth has gone through many cycles of cooling and warming since it began. The vast majority of the cycles occurred long before man came onto the scene let alone learned to use fossil fuels. Many of these changes were a lot more dramatic than anything that may be happening today. Personally, I am not convinced that man really has the ability to influence the climate to the extent that the environmentalist say that we are. So, what we have in the attempts to stop global warming is a campaign to cause the climate to become static. This is something that it has never been. Climate has always changed. Yet the environmentalist want to stop this change now. Nor am I convinced that global warming is the disastrous thing that the environmentalist say it is. Warmer temperatures would open more lands further towards the poles to agriculture. The fact of the matter is that during the Medieval Warm Period (800-1300 AD) people were able to grow wine grapes in Southern England. (We can't do that now because it is still too cold there.) Food production throughout Europe was significantly greater during this period than it was during the Little Ice age (mid 1400's to mid 1800's) that followed it. During the MWP, Vikings were also able to colonize and prosper on Greenland. Greenland was green then. During the LIA these settlements had to be abandoned. There are many other examples of how warming can actually be beneficial, but the global warming hysterics don't want you to know about these. All they want you to hear about is the doom and gloom. Finally, in a comment on another answer, teknimage writes, "...you can easily formulate and then answer the question, 'Who has anything to gain from this information?' Scientists? What would they have to gain? They just research and inform of what they find." Alas, if only it were that simple. You have to remember that scientist are trying to make a living just like the everyone else. As such they have to seek funding for their research. If no one will fund their research, then they don't eat. So, consider the scientist whose research is being funded by some group like Greenpeace, the Environmental Defense Fund, or the Sierra Club. Do you think that a scientist that does not tow the line of these groups will be funded by these groups? These groups have their own political agendas. They are not going to fund research that does not support their agendas. These groups are constantly criticizing those scientist that question global warming as being biased by funding from industry. However, they want you to ignore the built-in bias of their own researchers. I am sorry to have to disillusion you, but the way the system is set up, there is not a side whose research is completely unbiased. This is why I prefer to believe the side that I feel better fits the historical data, the side that is not trying to scare people.

Rather than limiting the question to Global Warming, I would say I am anxious about Climate Change. The reason I say this is because the effects for Scotland could be very different from some other areas. The Gulf Stream is a warm current of water that flows across the Atlantic and ends up running to UK. If that changes then our temperature and weather systems could change quite dramatically DOWN the way, causing harsher winters.

Let me put a different spin on this. Even if you attribute the recent climatic changes to El Nino or something other than "global warming," everyone still stands to benefit from the recommendations of how to help the situation. For example, one of the recommendations is recycling. As landfill content breaks down, it emits carbon dioxide which is said to be a component of global warming. Regardless of that, landfill space is limited. Energy is saved by recycling and costs are thus contained. Fewer natural resources are used if materials are recycled. Another identified contributor to global warming is the carbon dioxide released through the burning of fossil fuels. But I'll leave that aside to look at other issues that are related. It's clear that there is not enough oil available to satisfy this country's hunger for the stuff. Even tapping Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico more than has already been done will not suffice. Imported oil comes primarily from the middle east, a part of the world that is hardly stable. Money paid at the gas pump may well have funded terrorism. Additionally, the world's supply of oil is finite -- it will last for a long time but not as long as a lot of people think. Consider your local fast food restaurant's deep fryer for a moment. It's filled with cooking oil of some type that will be drained and disposed of after it's used. Technology exists that can convert that oil into fuel for diesel engines. The cost is dramatically lower (less than a dollar, I think?) per gallon than for the diesel fuel currently available. As a car or truck engine burns this converted diesel fuel, it smells like french fries and the "exhaust" does no harm to the environment. All of this comes from cooking oil that would otherwise have been thrown out. Conserving the ozone is on the list of benefits, but even if you see the greater appeal as being the United States taking a step towards being more self-sufficient, in dramatically decreasing the costs of fuel, it still makes sense. There are other examples I could cite but these give you a good idea of what I'm saying. None of them, including the ones I've listed, are panaceas. None of them will come for free. But I assure you in the long run they will seem very, very inexpensive.

No I'm not worried about global warming. Wasn't the hurricane season this last year suppose to be absolutly horrible? See the problem I have is that the predictions of all the global warming doomsday sayers have not yet come true. I mean even if you do belive in Global warming you have to admit its going rather slow, the earths temperature has only increased 1.2 degrees C in the last 150 years. If I remember right all the indoctrination videos that I watched in school told me that by now I would have to wear SPF 60 sunblock and sunglasses every time I left my house and that winter would no longer exist. Well guess what, its pretty cold outside, I'm not putting on sunblock before I go outside and I don't have any sunglasses.
-
No. Its just another stick for governments to beat us with, if it wasnt that it would be something else
-
I'm not so much worried about myself than the future generations who WILL be effected by global warming. We are nearing the point of no return. Cut down on the polution now, or there's no going back. Maybe we dont care about ourselves, but I think we need to consider our children and their children and so on into this equation who might not casually sit back and watch the world collaspe around them.
-
global warming is probably true...but it won't be the cause of our inevitable end. it's just too slow
-
Global Warming is a fact,...you kinda have to believe in it. The big question is,...When will we start seeing the disatrous effects that it supposedly causes,...If we are'nt already. The weather is pretty wierd out right now. Its mid-January, I live in cincinnati, and I've been walking around in a T-shirt for a week. It also hasn't stopped raining for six days. Im glad that I live on a hill
-
Yes. It is a very real threat and we should all not just be worried about it, but actually doing things in our own lives that help to make a difference, whether that is driving a more fuel-efficient car, or voting for a party with a good stance on the issue.
-
No. Changes are occurring slow enough that humans will adapt. Note that Global Warming is not pollution. Pollution I'm worried about.
-
Not really, My parents own a nice home in Florida about 60 miles from the coast and they soon could have ocean front property.
-
yes. we need to start changing the way we live on on every aspect. we need to do more to re-cycle & conserve at the very least.
-
not really, global warming will happen and would had happen anyway...
-
No. There is absolutely no way todays society will change fast enough to stop it, so we're in for it either way you look at it. So instead of worrying about it, we should be adapting to it.
-
Not, we don't have to worry about global warming. 100s of years ago it was hotter then it is now! In the 17th century, there wasn't any ice at Greenland. And anyway a new Iceage is coming in many thousands of years and then we have 'our' cold back.
-
Yes in general it is obviously a gigantic problem. On a personal level there is little more that i can do about it than I already attempt. If the worlds major countries are ignoring all the guidelines and treaties, what can I do as a single person? So although I am concerned there is little point in me making myself ill worrying, when the people that could actually do something about the matter are continuously making excuses to ignore the facts.
-
i was worried but now i dont care - i re-cycle i do everything now to show that im not the one causing it - but i know nothing will change now - scientist say they are doing things but they'll only do something when we're at a risk. anyone older than me shouldn't worry they wont have to suffer we will though - all i can say is that there should be a cerfue every sunday from now on - every sunday all transport all factories all things technical that gives off emissions should be turned OFF and not in use - only ambulances for emergencys and police nothing else - everyone must either walk or stay inside - this would make a differance but i know america and china and any other coutry wont want to sacrifise for a day!
-
Yes. I am more worried for future generations than I am for myself, as I think it's going to get much worse before it gets better, if indeed it does.
-
I am not worried about it at the moment. I am worried at what kind of earth we will leave our children. When you put crap into the atmosphere, you get crap out. I believe humans do contribute to global warming, but the affects are not seen yet (but they are starting). When the affects really hit, it will be too late.
-
Yes; I'm very concerned.
-
Yes very. It has become a very contraversal problem, and should be tried to be put an end, if possible.
-
Absolutely. I think about it alot actually. It's quite a frightening concept, and I think we should all do our best to avoid it.
-
yes, most of us are or will be

Certainly, everybody should be alarmed. Climatic change is not usually a very good experience for the organisms impacted by it. It will certainly apply a lot of selective pressure to various populations and the result will almost certainly be that many species will face possible extinction, this could even include mankind if the shift is far enough and fast enough. The last major climate change was at the end of the last major ice age about 12,000 years ago. It caused a bottleneck in our population with some scientists hypothesizing that humanity was reduced to a small number if isolated pockets of small populations. (I personally suspect that the stories of the 'Great Flood' are cultural memories of this event as it certainly caused tremendous rainfall across diverse places all over the earth, certainly destroying most low lying settlements. Every culture on earth has stories of this type of event, there are at least 200 various versions of The Great Flood story from various cultures worldwide). The current global glimatic change may or may not be something that humanity has caused. It is also not a certainty that anything we do to mitigate it will have the desired, if any, effect. It may have already progressed too far, already approaching the tipping point or possibly having already passed it. It may even be caused by factors which we have no control over. Most likely it is a combination of many factors, both manmade as well as not man made. I am not saying that it is not important to stop polluting the Earth. It is our home and we are certainly pooping in the nest, so we should stop it. The politicization of it and the excessive hype which the media brings to bear on it are in my opinion not helpful and done for entirely different reasons that helping to avoid climatic change. Another point to consider is that we really do not know enough about how the global climatic system works well enough to predict the long term effects of such changes. Everything you have heard people predict is merely speculation. Think about it, how accurate are long term weather forcasts today? The scariest part if it all is that we do not really know where it will end up.
-
Global warming sounds like fun. Global = all encompassing Warming = Comfort Who could be alarmed by all encompassing comfort? They should at least change the name first. Something like: "THE DOOM PROJECT!" That would turn a few heads...
-
I think were killing are earth, and if we dont stop then are childrens children will have to suffer.
-
If you watched An Inconvenient Truth you should also watch the other view of global warming: See the link in the question posted: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/161880/504538
-
The way the weather patterns have been altered lately, there must be something to it.
-
"An Inconvenient Truth" is a political blockbuster, it is an awful program to learn about Global Warming. My opinion here: # http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/318635 I do think we should cut down on waste and stop damaging the planet, but I am not certain if global warming is man-made. For a counter-view to "An Inconvenient Truth" check out this link: # http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/514495
-
I am concerned after seeing "An Inconvenient Truth", but I cannot really say that I am alarmed. I still read too many conflicting reports and data. There is a local radio host that is constantly downing it, saying other scientists question the legitimacy of some of the movie's facts.
-
Yes. It changed the weather a lot! It was pretty warm in winter. the ice is melting and it's killing animals. People don't realize how much trouble it has caused.
-
Yes. SAVE THE PLANET! PLEASE, everyone start burping and quit farting!
-
Alarmed? Yes. Motivated to do something... nope. Until there are things we can do that show change that I can see with my own eyes, I tend not to take action.
-
Yes I'm alarmed. I'm alarmed at how easily convinced people are that this is real. Did you all see Nevet's vid that he posted? When I get home from work I might post a link to it (I have it saved in favorites) The video step by step disproves man-made global warming. I'm about as worried about the results of global warming as I am about the results of the global cooling thing that was suppose to kill us all back in the 70's.
-
I have been aware of global warming about 20 years ago,and was not surprised at peoples apathy.People usually wait until things become more dire, like now.It is happening at an accelarated rate and has already shown itself with the climatic changes we see everyday. It is time to open our eyes, for future generations with be the ones that pay for our apathy.
-
nooo! have you seen how many factories we have??/ have you seen how many cars there are? have you seen on the Gas stations? have you seen all the smokers? have you seen all the polution? have you seen all the steam rollers? have you seen all the heavy machinery? have you seen what "little" trucks and cars have turned into? If you noticed all these things your not suprised at alL!

I posted this on another post as well. Well, I will start off my answer by saying that I do, in fact, "believe" in Global Warming. I do not know where to start, so I will start with some facts. 1. In the last 900 (and change) articles written by qualified scientists, 0% disagreed with global warming, and 0% disagreed with human caused global warming. 2. Global Warming is cause by the atmosphere becoming thicker. As humans emit CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into the atmosphere, it thickens. Because of this, more heat gets trapped into the atmosphere, thus making it hotter. More on the CO2 effects on the heat of the Earth: The sun emits radiation and the Earth absorbs some. Then, the earth reflects some of the radiation into Outer Space. The problem is that because of CO2, more of the radiation cannot leave the Earth. This means that more heat stays inside the Earth We do also know that humans are causing global warming. In the last 650Million years, the CO2 parts per million has NEVER been above 300. This includes ice ages and the intervals of time between them. Today, with our industrialized nations spitting out CO2 by the ton, we have a lot more than 300. To be exact, we have about 382 CO2 parts per million We can know this because of research. Scientists study ice that has been around for a long time (let's say, Antarctica). The ice traps air bubbles, and from that, we can know accurate measures from far back. For those of you who are disbelieving that CO2 causes global warming, take this fact. Within the last 650Million years, the CO2 levels have ALWAYS been codjacent with the rise and fall in temperatures. And, just pointing out the obvious, 650Million years is quite a large sample size. Global Warming is quite a scary happening to our World, and we must, as a society of humans, take action against it. The temperatures could get drastically higher, and many scientists believe that in the next ten years, the damage can become irreversible. Thank you for taking the time to read my answer and at http://www.paramountpictures.co.uk/aitemail/ you can receive ten easy ways to help our planet and our way of life.

No, I watched this. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/968300
-
not since I started buying ocean front property in Pennsylvania and Nevada.
-
Nah, it's not like it's anything mankind has any control over anyway. Why worry?
-
I believe that the Earth's temperature change is cyclical. However, I think we should be responsible and do our part by recycling and buying fuel efficient vehicles. Also, why is the USA the only Country that has this amazing urgency to change and that same urgency is not focused on overpopulated China?
-
No.I'm more worried about the "Ice Age" that the scientists(back in the 1970's) predicted would be here by the 2000's!LMAO!THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
-
No,I think something good will come out of it.Problems are what make people create technoligy.
-
Not a damned bit. The polar ice caps are melting. On Earth AND Mars. Industry, cars, factories are NOT the cause. We impact the planet .0000000001% doesn't matter wtf we do. If you disagree then take it up with all those damned Martians spewing toxins in their atmosphere causing their ice caps to melt. It's a solar cycle. Deal with it. STFU about it. buying carbon credits or electing democrats/socialists isn't going to change a damned thing in the environment...that much is obvious to anyone willing to think for themselves and look at facts instead of being misguided by blind sheep leading the blind sheep.
-
Heck no! There are only 2 things to worry about. Either you are well or sick. If you are well, there is nothing to worry about. But if you are sick, there are only 2 things to worry about. Either you will live or die. If you live, there is nothing to worry about. But, if you die there are only 2 things to worry about. Either you go to Heaven or Hell. If you go to Heaven, there is nothing to worry about. But, if you go to Hell, you'll be so damn busy shaking friends hands, you won't have time to worry. :)
-
Nope.
-
It is too late to be worried. It is already here ,and because of mankind,we can only slow it down and not reverse it.Mankind is the only species that knowingly destroys the environment that sustains them.
-
No. GW is a hoax. Some other people around the globe live in panic about this issue. The governments got a solution for them: PROZAC. My 2 cents.
