its origin derives from Ali, as a young man named Cassius Clay rising through the ranks in the boxing world and making a name for himself. During this phase of his life everything was about him, as a single individual with the worlds eyes on him through their new black and white tv's.
Me became we when Cassius became Ali. He wanted to be a part of something where it wasn't so much about "me" anymore but more so about "we". Ali grew up feeling alone and he wanted to be a part of something big. He was never shy from controversy. Always wanting the spotlight on him with various stunts involving his opponents and even the government. He wanted to get the attention on him, as an individual, to send a message to us about the problems "we" faced.
Me Becomes We as We become One.
(he gave this poem at the Harvard graduation, basically saying 2 words to people with way higher IQ's than him to go think about what it means...another stunt)
