  • After the birth of baby #3 I was experiencing some coping problems with caring for my two older children. My hubby expected me to get them up and ready for school, get #1 off on the bus, drive #2 to preschool AND squeeze nursing #3 into the morning schedule, all at 6 weeks postpartum. I was exhausted and actually cried in the car (along with my newborn) while driving #2 to preschool. Thankfully, a more compassionate out-of-state friend arranged for someone local to help me out. I never even took her up on her offer, but just knowing I could have help made all the difference.

  • Blessed me with some money. My dad, mom, sister and I use to travel all the time when I was young. My dad is a gospel piano player, and went around playing for an evangelist; our family also sang together to. Well we were at this church in Houston, Texas and this woman walked up to me and put a bundle of money in my hands. At the time, I was worshipping the Lord with my hands lifted up. It was a blessing to me, because I had asked God for some offering to put in the offering basket, and it was provided. I did as I desired. It was weird, but it just reminds me how God works in mysterious ways. I was only 12 or so. Hope this doesn't offend anyone, it just really boosted me up.

I thought whoever it was was talking to someone else do I didnt look up, like 10 seconds later i realized that whoever it was could of been talking to me so i sat up and saw the guy walking away to his car. I said to the guy sitting next to me that I hadn't eaten all day and that the wine on my empty stomach was probably going to make me a really interesting student. Like 5 minutes later, he walked out of the class, when he came back and sat back down, he sneaked me a sandwich from the buffet. I was so impressed! • The nicest things can be very small sometimes. I remember one day I was in Greece with my boyfriend. We arrived on an island very early in the morning and had to wait a few hours for the next boat. We walked around a bit and saw this man who worked as a street cleaner. Somehow there was something about him, you know, some people just have this magic around them. He was a bit simple minded, probably ignored by most people. I asked if I could take his picture in front of this beautiful door. He looked at us in pure surprise and said: "Who, me??" and gave us a great shy smile. We took his picture and left. Later on, still killing time, we where very hungry but everything was still closed. We were strolling a bit and then we met him again. The moment he saw us he reached for his bag and took two stuffed breads out of it, which he offered to us. Somehow I found that to be very touching. It was like his whole face was shining, and he was truely a magical person. We never saw him again, but that was one of those moments I will never forget.
  • Think I would like to answer my iown question here ( if this is bad form I am sorry) I posted this quesstion becuase so many good people have helped me in the past and I get a warm feeling everytime I think about it. Just wanted to read your stories and bathe in the possitive energy that good nice stories about honest and real people give out. There is to much bad news in the world today and 2 many negative vibes. About 15 years ago I broke down on the Thames embankment between chelsea and Albert bridge, it was a wet dark, cold winters night and my car just died. A young indian guy stopped and towed my car 5 miles out of his way so I could get home. This was a small kind act from a total stranger who refused to take any reward. It has allways stuck with me as an act of kindness and I try to do the same to other people. It amazes me how such a simple act could have had such a profound effect on me but I have passed on this act by helping others hundreds of times. Let us hope they also continue and in thier turn pass on acts of kindness to others and in some small way this world might be a better place to live in

On the way back from shopping in Frankfurt, my car broke down. I was stuck for hours trying to find help. I was 19, didn't speak German, and had no Germany money with me. I had to send my pregnant friend, her little girl, and my baby home in a cab. Our husbands were in the field training, it was starting to get dark, and I was a total disaster. I saw a car pull up in to an apartment and a soldier go inside. I knocked on the door and the soldier wound up pushing my car from the gas station to his house so it wouldn't be towed, loaded my groceries in his car, and drove me 45 minutes home. He unloaded all the groceries and saw me in safely.

Much of the collection was our own hardwork, from any chore around the house or the neighborhood that we could find, in order to buy baseball cards. The cards meant alot to us, for alot of reasons. They had great sentimental value as well as financial value. The day before we were gonna move out of this nightmarish neighborhood we lived in, we got robbed. They took all of our baseball cards. We even knew who did it and couldn't do anything about it 'cause we were kids and we didn't have a father. My Mother told a co-worker of hers about what happened, and his son, who was only a couple years older than me, decided he wanted to help. He gave us his entire collection of Baseball cards that his family had passed down to him and that he had spent his whole life amassing. He didn't even know us. That changed my life.
