Beer Pong is more detailed then you think. The rules for the game change within the places you place so it's pretty much a House Rules kind of game. The general set up is taking six cups and putting them together to form a triangle. You also need 2 cups for both teams to use as a water cup. This is just to soak the ball to remove dirt or other unwanted debris from the ball. The water cup needs to be changed with every game you play for sanitary reasons. You get ping pong balls and you can either throw them into the cups or use a paddle to try to sink them into the cups. If you make a cup, the other team must consume the contents of the cups. Speaking of the contents, it is highly recommended that you do not try to play beer pong using a hard liquor or wine. It will get you sick. You usually play in pairs. You start the game off by deciding who shoots first either by going eye to eye or winners ball. Eye to Eye is two players on opposite teams look each other in the eye and shoot the ball into the cup. Whoever makes the cup, gets to shot first. If both players make it, you go again. If you are playing winners, then the people who won the previous game get automatic first shot. You do not drink from the eye to eye shot though, its only for control of the balls. The team who wins the eye for eye, shoots from behind the table. You cannot lean over the table and you arm cannot go over the table. This is a foul and your shot will not count. Both players shoot the ping pong balls into the cups. If both players miss, the other team gets control of the balls and shots also. If one player misses and other scores, the other team must drink the cup that was made but they get control of the ball and go on the offense. If both players score, the scoring team gets another round of shooting. This is called "Bring the ball back". As the game progresses, more cups will be made. You can have reracks which arranges the cups in a more pleasant formation. The game ends when one team is left with no cups to drink. In the event of a tie, there is overtime which is a 3 cup playoff. At the end of the game, the loser of the game, consumes the remaining alcohol of the winners. There are certain house rules people apply to their games. I will list a few I have seen played. House Rules: 1. In the event of a shut out, one team is beaten without making one of their opponents cups, they might be forced to run around the residence in the nude. They might also have to sit under the table for the next game. It varies from place to place but beware there are harsh penalties for losing so badly. 2. There is a rule about swirling balls in a cup, the rules are generally Women can blow the ball out of the cup before it hits the substance in the cup. Men can use theirs fingers to take the ball out. These are very difficult moves to pull off but they are the only defensive moves you can use in the game. 3. Rules for bouncing into cups can differ from place to place. Sometimes swatting is allowed. 4. Some places have the Death Cup or the Instant Win Cup. If the offensive team manages to score in a solitary cup twice in the same game it is an instant win. *only counts if there is still alcohol in the cup* For example: The offensive team makes a cup and then scores again in the same cup. The game is instantly over. Another example: The offensive team scores. The defensive team is drinking the cup slowly or places it else where in the room. Putting a ball within this cup is an instant win. Just be careful with shooting at side cups, if they are not game cups you will just be wasting a shot. Thats pretty much beer pong. As previously stated, the rules can vary from region to region so just be familiar with the rules and you will have a blast.
