  • I certainly dont....maybe those guys that do are just insecure about themselves.
  • don't hear of that so much... hear lots of harassment for the opposite. male nurses. ballet men and cheerleaders. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/933297 , the movie "meet the parents" or even peter petrelli from "heros"
  • You mean "all men," "many men," "some men," "a few men," or a man you know?
  • Maybe some women who are employed in "men's jobs" are just overly sensitive about it.
  • I do what is seen as a manly job, im a car re-sprayer. I get shit all the time but I know that I am the best and that my work is quality.
  • My mom and her two sisters all worked for the same construction company at one point in time, most of the guys actually really respected their strength, and thought it was sexy! They didn't get any crap from the guys, besides a little harmless flirting here and there.
  • Cause they have a big FRUSTRATION!
  • I don't and i wish i had someone to talk to where i work :( Im a lonely apprentice. But i know what your on about, and most times if its a group of men, they treat you like territory. They all challenge each other to rule the roost and try to impress, yet if your too clever for them, which normally happens, they don't know how to react so they treat you badly so they can control you. Not saying this is how they think but as a summary this is how i view it. Theres alot of blokes out there who only think of themselves and try to impress. If it doesn't suit they get angry - why i know this? because my brother is one of them and he's sexist. I wonder how i have respect for women at times when theres so many evil gets out there. Wow, im having an argumentative day today :P lol
  • The ones that do are probably insecure and feel threatened. It's a lashing out trying to protect at what they see as their "manly" status. There's the potential that since women are seen as more conscientious, they might actually do a better job than a man who just does enough to "get by." I had that happen to me in 1969 when I wanted to take a class in mechanical drawing in high school. Back then, society was still pretty chauvinistic - boys took shop; girls took home ec. My parents actually had to write a justification letter to the school to get me into the class. I got some pretty hurtful teasing from the boys since I was the only female in the class, and I got straight A's, but after a while they got used to it and stopped the taunting.
  • you wanted your equal rights to work any job didn't you.... if its a mans job it was a first ran by a man.. women are taking mens jobs now..wtf are my rights.. :)
  • If I have to carry her,I resent it.She makes what I make-pull your weight. The girls who do their jobs without whining are respected.I'm a mailman.
  • In my country, Philippines, women placed on tough jobs generally become the "bullies". It's like always putting signs on their chests " MEN, I can do better than you!" That's discrimination too right? I still don't understand what's that for. Women now enjoy equal rights with men. And many men in fact, have great respect for women who excel more than they. I think both men and women should stop thinking what gender is better qualified for a job. The thinking should be more focused on who has better skills to qualify for the job and deliver results.
  • Because men's job is "HARD"
  • I work with almost all men and it is not an issue, if they gave me a hard time they would cop it back!!!
  • let me explain this one. I am a former US Marine, I now work in law enforcement. MEN in these fields dont give women a hard time about it! I never had a problem with the MEN at either profession. However, i do get a lot of shit from boys who cant do it thmeselves, and are threatened by the fact that a woman has achieved what they cannot. Bottom line- real men dont have this issue!
  • I'm guessing it is several things..first, they can't relax and talk with ease if a woman is there..you know, they have to watch their language. Also, perhaps they feel that she has taken a job away from a man and might resent her for that. Also, there is the possibility that she just might shine and do a he** of a job, and show them up and that would be really hard to take. Assuming the woman is really qualified and pulls her own weight and does a very good job, those are the only reasons I can think of. Now, if she is the boss's honey and really incompetent, then of course they'd resent her but they wouldn't give her a hard time and that woud make them resent her even more! :)
  • Im in the emergency medical field, and it is a predominently male enviornment. Some don't know how to act around me, so I break the ice for them. They are used to being able to "check chix out", so I point them out for them. Or telling dirty jokes, Im more perverted than them so I tell em first. And it depends on how they approach it when there is a heavy patient to lift, if it is nice like let me open the door for you, i let them lift the patient. but if they are just being macho, i lift the heavy patient into the ambulance w ease. that says, i can do anything you can do. For the most part, they treat me just the same with a bit of Im still a lady to them. I rather enjoy men being the protector, but I dont let them on that I will protect them too, you know.
