Perhaps my honesty...with myself. I like myself, feel comfortable with myself. I've discovered that those who seem to depend on others for their own validation do not find me comforting. Because I will not act to validate them, they flee and seek others who will do so.

I have been told by at least two people that my "intensity/focus" scared them. One was my mother, believe it or not. Add that to the list of things you should never tell your child. The other was a co-worker. Perhaps there were others who felt the same way. I don't know. It seemed an odd thing for someone to find frightening, though. :)
