  • take it some where to have the tank removed and buy a new dipstick
  • what you don't have a "oiltank"you have a oilpan at the bottom of the motor, and if your dipstick has fractured replace it, if ti broke off drop the oilpan and retrieve the pieces before they do damage to your motor
  • Remove the oil pan to retrieve the broken dipstick and replace it with an unbroken one.

  • If the top just broke off sometimes you can put a screw through the remaining plastic in the top and pull the rest out. If it broke completely and fell into your oil pan don't panic, the chances of it actually coming into contact with anything and hurting it are not likely but i would get it fixed ASAP just in case which would require droppping the oil pan (usually not a hard thing to do).
  • you might be able to get the broken piece out using a small magnet on a telescoping rod. You should be able to find the magnet at an auto parts store.
  • Get a new dipstick at a junkyard and dont worry about it. The filter will keep it from doing anyharm. If its a small piece it will comeout when you drain the oil, If its a larger piece you might have to drop the oil pain to get it out, But why bother. It wont hurt anything,
  • You can often unbolt the dipstick tube from the engine and the fish the broken dipstick out.
  • Try a needle nose plyer to grab the piece if you can see it. If you cannot see it some dip stick tubes can be unbolyed and you may be able to reach it then.
  • go 2 the part store and buy a small round magnet that will fit down the dipstick hole and u should b able 2 pull it out.
