no for both. but every person my family has known who has rode a motorcycle before has been in a serious accident

Not yet, thank God, but I've come way too close to being hit while on my bike. It's almost always someone merging into my lane without looking or pulling onto the highway. Driving defensively is the best I can do.

Well on dirt bikes, broke my foot once jumping my old dirt bike.

I burnt my shin on the engine block of a motercycle once. Does that count?

Every time I get on a motorcycle I have an accident... Even that once at Padre Island, with a 4 wheel motorcycle... It's a CURSE! Nothing serious, thank God, but I try to avoid them!

Yes, I had just started to pull out of the driveway when the throttle stuck and the Suzuki Titan shot across the street. It had no kill switch and the ignition key was way forward under the gas tank and the drum brakes were useless. I laid it down in the neighbor's front yard after threading the gap between the parked cars. But I relaxed my grip and the still running bike stood up and took aim at next house down. I hit it straight on fortunately at low speed. I dug up some grass, bent the forks but did not damage the brick house. I slid forward against the gas tank on impact and walked funny for a week. I did father 2 children several years later.

I was involved in a hit and run last year when someone hit me from behind on my Kawasaki Ninja 500. Had been riding for two seasons by then and had only 7000 miles (all ridden by me) on the bike. She was totalled, I was not happy! Funny story though, my ex boyfriend burnt his leg on the engine cover once while helping me get it on the center stand. He walked around with a nice big KAWASAKI "tattoo" for a while!

Sadly, I was in a motorcycle accident when I was 18. I had a friend on the back of my 750 Honda. A car hit us (not my fault) and we both went flying. I was hurt enough to be in the hospital for 4 days. My good friend however, was very badly hurt (he refused to wear a helmet) and to this day he has things he cannot do, due to some brain injury he got when he was hurt.

I went into the side of a hospital delivery van (not an ambulance!) at 30 mph when it cut across me when it was my right of way at a traffic light. That was the worst one I ever had, though I've had a few minor ones. I was very lucky I didn't break anything. I was glad of my helmet, stout boots and leathers that day.

Not yet. There are two types of bikers: there are bikers who have been down. There are bikers who have not been down... yet. I plan to keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down as long as possible!

Yes, back in 1971. I was a passenger on my then-boyfriend's bike; we were riding as a group of friends. We were behind his best friend who braked suddenly because he was cut off (so he said); we couldn't stop as quickly and ran into the back of the friend's bike. We were both thrown clear, right across the oncoming traffic and landed in the ditch opposite. The miracle was that we had no broken bones, just a lot of torn up skin and pain.

I laid one down once, brake didn't work for some reason, and was coming to a busy intersection. Laid it down and slid a ways.

I was in one when I was 17, and I missed the SAT which was the next day. Kinda sucked, but I do have some pretty pimp scars.
