typically nothing permanent, though in rare cases it can trigger psychosis, typically in people who are predisposed to it, and who had a higher then average chance of becoming psychotic anyway. tyically nothing at all, and it's not a drug that robs you of your ability to remember things or causes you to go permanently blind or anything like that.

Speaking as someone who actually tried 8 hits of LSD in a 24 hour period, LSD is a neurotoxin in high dosages. Take it from me, I've been recovering from that horrific experience for 10 years and I still have problems. I wish to God I could take that stupid decision back. I had done smaller doses without devastating consequences like this before. However, I was suicidal at the time, and I wanted to see what was on the other side. Psychosis is what was waiting for me once I came back from the outer reaches of the cosmos. Seizures, paranoid delusions, and physical hallucinations caused me to move back into my parents' house while I vegetated for about 6 months. DO NOT DO LARGE DOSES OF LSD! In fact, stay away from chemicals period, such as cocaine, meth, LSD, ecstacy, and MSG. If you want to trip or get high, only use the drugs made by God: mushrooms, marijuana, etc. They don't cause permanent damage. LSD is cheap, and you get what you pay for ... but not what you bargained for. Don't believe the pushers who say it's harmless.

No brain damage, but it can cause psychological problems.

"psychological" problems and brain damage are the same thing. Don't do drugs of any sort. Eat fresh, organic fruits and vegetables and you will live longer, smarter and happier for it.

Studies show that LSD doesn't cause cancer, brain damage, or chromosome breakage. And despite its potency, it's virtually impossible to overdose on it. That doesn't mean it's good for you, though. LSD can (and does) cause severe psychological discomfort -- even trauma. In fact, one bad trip can quickly outrank dozens of hearts-and-flowers trips. When bummers do occur, they tend to take two main forms panic attacks and psychotic reactions: * Panic. The most common adverse reaction to LSD, panic usually centers on a fear of dying or going crazy. * Psychotic Reactions. Serious breaks with reality, psychotic episodes usually include hallucinations and delusions. LSD-fueled psychotic episodes are like bad trips that don't end when the drug wears off. Such reactions may be linked to the "unmasking" of pre-existing problems and may require professional intervention. Another occasional effect of LSD are flashbacks: the reemergence of effects -- usually panic -- days or weeks later. Since LSD is not retained in the body, flashbacks are probably psychological rather than physical in origin. Triggers can include stress, drug use, or cues associated with a past trip. Although acid flashbacks -- like other anxiety reactions -- seldom last longer than 90 minutes, they can seem unendurable, since they tend to focus on unpleasant aspects of bad trips. Acid Test: Pushing Past Panic For many users, staring down a full-blown LSD panic is one of the most mind-numbing times they'll ever spend with themselves. That's why bad trips have inspired such fear and loathing over the years -- and so many approaches for pulling the plug on panic. If you ever need them, here are a few that work: * Stay calm. If you're scared, the tripper will know it -- and feel even more panicky. * Be supportive. Define reality. Remind the person that they're experiencing drug effects that will go away. * Use distractions. LSD users are distractible, so help focus their attention on something more pleasant. * Change the setting. Sometimes, simple changes in setting -- dimming lights or turning down music, for instance -- is all it takes to calm an anxious, prospective acid casualty. Reassurance from a friend can make a big difference -- all the difference, in fact, between a passing thought (Okay, a "passing thought" dressed up like one of the bad kid's tormented dolls in "Toy Story") and a full-tilt bad trip with lasting psychological scars. Just staying calm (and being patient) could earn your place as a friend, indeed, to a friend in need. Research has shown some changes in the mental functions of users of LSD. Some develop signs of organic brain damage-impaired memory and attention span, mental confusion, and difficulty with abstract thinking. It is not yet known whether such mental changes will disappear when LSD use is stopped.

LSD is not good I used it myself and the last time was terrorfying i was warned I thought it was so cool and the person that warned me I felt they were such a kill joy but it didnt take long and I found myself in the exact postion he spoke about and that was a bad trip and I dont believe I have been the same since and never did I take again it was too horrorifying I believe personally it did effect me and the levels of senontona and the receptors in my brain I did have flash backs so that proves the effects were enduring and my brain was not back to normal and now I suffer from muddled thinking and depression and to a degree Im paranoid and very much isolated its not a great life for a few hours of taking LSD

I am pretty sure Lsd doesnt cause brain damage, but here is something it does, lsd is stored in your fat cells, so when you burn off some of these 3 years down the line, you might go on a trip even though you havent touched the stuff for 3 years. Nothing like driving your car and all of a sudden blam your off in la la land, this can actually happen.

It can be dangerous...as an avid ex-user the bad trip can be quiet the mind job....causing severe paranoia...the hieghtened senses give you eerie insight of its affects when they happen and really deepens your emotions..only use when in the best of moods and the best of friends to stay safe! But you should not use at all!

From what I have read you should never take it while taking depressants because a chemical reaction between the main ingredient causes bad trips and other harmful effects There has been no recorded case of someone dieing from the drug itself but according to the book elephants on acid (good read)an elephant overdosed on a ridiculous amount of acid I know friends that loved it and some that dont even want to bring it up eventualy though your bound to have a bad trip Stay safe and have fun XD

what a bunch of bad trip stories...... how about the good parts?? will someone pls mention the good bits.... lsd only reveals things that are already a part of you.....all the issues that you had just swept under the carpet.....it helps you deal with alot of baggage and come out of it fresh and new....feeling lightened...it helps you unlearn some of the crap that has been imposed on you...which most people are not even aware of...it helps you re evaluate yourself and your place in this world.....it humbles you and reveals your ego....it even tears away your ego in th most ruthless way possible....the only way....to move well through a trip you must shed you ego....it will rip it apart whether you like it or not....the more you fight it...the more shitty your trip is..... it helps you realize how beautiful life is and how everything is beautiful....and this beauty connects everything......it shows you glimpses of timelessness....it helps you ,for the first time, connect with people and see the beauty in everyone..... well i can go on about the good that lsd can do for a person and the planet on the whole.... someone earlier said...that one bad trip is enough to keep you away from it no ....i think that good trips are earned.....and that one good trip every now and again is worth any number of bad/learning trips.... in fact most really good trips start out a bit on the bad side..... the bad trips are already there in you before u take lsd......it only comes to the surface when you trip....so you can clean it up once and for all.... your life already sucks......lsd helps you see that...so that you can take your life in your own hands and make your life good, the way you want........ bad trips teach people so much more than a good trip....and the good trip that comes after you clean up all the junk is the best thing ever...you feel like a child again...you feel beautiful....everything sparkles....magic is all around.....utter joy....so much of it that it makes you cry...and a deep understanding and love for yourself and everything else just takes over you..... lsd trips are a deep cleansing process.....and thus it is painful and uncomfortable....like getting a wound cleaned.....

brain damage...?? who the hell knows.... honestly u should be worrying about the thousands of other substances that are causing you and me harm.... these days it seems most people already suffer from diminished brains.....lsd will only help them use what they have in a better way.... well even if they die of brain cancer....well atleast they would have had a beautiful life and would do some good while they were here........

It does not cause brain damage like ecxtasy does. However - if you know someone having a bad trip get them to drink a little milk and then give them a 4x recommended dose of Niacin / Vitamin B12 - after an intitial panic and hot flash (often turning the face bright red) the person will significantly sober up. This is due to blood vessels flushing out the LSD from receptor sites in the brain. Knowing this tip can prevent a serious injury, arrest, or hospital visit.
