  • The other answers given here are correct, but I would like to add one. The "Wombat" was a model of motorcycle produced by the Hodaka company in the 60's and 70's. I had one of these, and though I know it was named after the animal, my bike is still the first thing that I think of when I hear this name. Edit: I like to personally thank the person who rated this not helpful. The Hodaka Wombat was a real motorcycle, and my answer is valid. You are a fool for down rating my answer.

  • Wombats are stout, sturdy marsupials unique to Australia. They grow to about 1.3 metres in length, and can weigh up to 36 kg. They have a large, blunt head with small eyes and ears, and a short, muscular neck. Their sharp claws and stubby, powerful legs make them great diggers. Wombats have been known to live for up to 27 years in captivity. One of our popular TV soaps in Australia had a very well loved wombat named 'fatso'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wombat Photos at .... http://www.abc.net.au/science/scribblygum/june2006/gallery.htm

  • A Wombat is an interesting little creature with a belly like a chrome toaster. It has shiny, springy, legs and fins. The Wombat is a quick and agile little rascal with long ears and one eye. The Wombat like many of the Hodaka creations had colorful titles such as the Super Rat, Super Combat, Road Toad, Thunderdog, and the Ace. All of which were economical motorcycles sold through the Pabatco Corporation of Oregon in the late 60's and 70's.
