  • I usually read the comment threads especially if I am unsure esactly what the answer means. You find out a lot about a person from the comment threads
  • I like to read the comments whether the answer is clear or not.
  • Answer itself. I don't typically jump into other people's conversations. The answer is what is specifically addressed to me. When a comment thread among friends, I'll jump in if there's room for me :) That being said, I don't give gradations of points. I'm either giving +6, leaving it alone (very rare, when truly uncalled for but not flaggable), or flagging it.
  • I up-rate anyone who answers my question as long as they stay within the scope of the question. I do read the comment threads but this does not sway my rating. I am thankful for all answers regardless if the answer is simple or well explained as I use all the answers as a way of researching the subject.
  • I rate them based on the answer itself, without any influence from the comments.
  • I tend to read the comment thread. I've run into people actually contrdaicting their answer in comments. If it is my own Q, I uprate so long as the answer has something to do with my Q and is not offensive. If someone "answers" just to tell me that I shouldn't have asked or to give me a moral surmon about my personal choices in life, I'm probably going to DR.
  • If I think the answer needs better explanation I'll look through the comment thread to see if one is given. Other than that...if the answer is pretty straight forward I don't bother. I figure if it doesn't directly relate to the question or answer, other people's conversations in comment threads are none of my business!
