My wife is Bi-Polar diagnosed @ 17 & was NEVER TOLD! She was married @ 18 & divorced @ 19. She was Forced Physically to use his Lawyer! Ex was awarded child & immediately Violated Visitation & Relocation by Relocating to Tn. Without Court Permission where Wife could never see daughter. He has stated many times that in lieu of Lost Visitation Rights, he would not accept Child Support. Now, 24 years later after daughter has left his "Control" he wants "Arrears" & TN. is processing it. Statute of Limitations is over in CA. & AZ. where we live, but not TN. In fact CA. told TN. in Writing (which we have) that they will Not Proceed any more. What do we do? John

Sounds as if this guy is either f'ing bored or in such dire financial straits, he will grasp at any thing. Seems like a copy of the court order accompanied by your above explanation in answer to any proceeding in Tennessee should put a stop to it without a lawyer. I would be hesitant to consult a lawyer at first who might blow the thing out of proportion just to have you pay for services. There are many on-line services who may advise with no concern for future profit. Patience is the key. Wait and see if anything actually comes out of all this, and if it does, you will be able to explain your side of the story.

Sorry Moosemose, I don't have any answers for you, but I will put your question back out there.

I would go into a holding pattern. Just wait and see what gets served and in the meantime, let your wife's ex stew about the arrears. I don't know about your state, but here in my state, the father has no control over this issue after the daughter reaches the age of 21. The daughter would have to be the one to take this issue to court.
