It depends which currency you are measuring in. I'm sure there have already been some trillionaires in Italy back in the pre-Euro days when they used Lire...

My son. I have faith in him. He has always said he was going to be rich someday. He wants to start life as a producer of music. He starts college this week. Well, he may never be a trillionaire, but I really think he will play a major roll in the music industry some day. Every body starts with a dream.

The way he's going, most likely Bill Gates. I bet all he needs is one more shar in microsoft, and after about a year, he'll have a trillion.

I dont think it is likely to be anyone that is famous right now. I beleive Bill Gates is the Worlds richest man right now (he goes up and down depending on the price of Microsfot shares and how much he has given away). He is currently worth less than $100B. To become a trillionaire he would need to be 10 times wealthier. Inflation is relatively low right now. So if we assume that whoever is the richest man in the world is 5% wealthier than the previous winner, and the current richest man has $100B, then it would take 48 years for that value to reach over $1T. Bill Gates makes huge charity donations, so I doubt if it will be him or his children. most of the other Super Rich, will probably have retired or be dead in 48 years time. So I expect it will be a new person. Im pretty confident it wont be me- but good luck to all you out there!!!

I think BILL GATES. He reached the apex of his net worth in 1999 topping the $100 billion mark, but has since slipped to about $50 billion. He was expected to reach one trillion dollars in 2004 or 2005. Obviously, it did not happen, but still he is by far the CLOSEST.

Any possiblity of these Shieks that own the oil fields in the middle east and the rising economy of China and India which could push the cost of gas up to 8 dollars a gallon in the very near future?

If the dollar loses a ton of value like I think it might, we might all be trillionaires someday. However the first person worth $1 trillion will probably be Warren Buffet.
