Have you heard of an affliction psychiatrists are now dubbing "Truman Syndrome" (as in the movie, The Truman Show)? It's where those afflicted are convinced their lives are secretly playing out on a TV reality show. (see link for story)

You must have CNN running in your background. I first saw this story early today. Interesting concept actually - to think that all the world is "your" stage.... I'd find that kind of a burden really to feel that I had to be "perfect" enough to be on view all the time. Written especially right now due to the fact that I still have on my PJs.

When I was a kid I used to think I was being watched by people with invisible cameras. It actually helped me behave sometimes, so maybe it was a good thing :)

I'm particularly interested in what Ian Gold, the philosophy and psychology professor had to say - "reality TV and the Web, with their ability to make strangers into intimates, may compound psychological pressure on people who have underlying problems dealing with others".
