  • My son is 17 and I just have conversation with his friends. I don't ask my son questions about them. For some reason I have a knack of getting people to open up and tell me things they normally wouldn't tell other adults. If it is a girl friend I'm looking to see if they are thinking about a future or do they just want babies. You would be surprised at the girls out there who have no ambition except to get pregnant. If it is a guy friend I'm looking to find out if they do drugs or if they are truthful and genuine. I never pick my son's friends but I will warn him in a non threatening/parent way as to what I think about certain people. I don't want my son to keep a relationship just because he is rebelling against me.
  • My son is almost 22 and I never asked him about his friends. When he was young I would get to the know the parents of his friends and when he was older I trusted that I had taught him how to pick good friends and how to keep himself safe.
