do you know the title of this book? i was told about a book where life on earth is going to end because of pollution and stuff and all a sudden aliens come and help them by telling them how to fix everything when the aliens help us we all start going nuts thinking they could possibley be angels or something and when they first make a public meeting with the aliens the people see the aliens have red skin, horns, legs of a goat, and a spear like tail i dont know the rest of the book, i just was told that much i think they called it something like '1000 gods' or '100 gods' but i looked up both names and they werent it ive been trying to find this book for years, please help :(

This really is a puzzle. I came across one book that might be yours, but it's kind of a long shot. It's Childhood's End by Arthur Clarke. I'll try to find some other possibilities, but this is all could find. Do you have any idea how old the book is? or any other information?
