It is one of the new generation of sub-notebook computers. They are tiny, usually sporting a screen around 7". They are low-powered compared to a full-on laptop but still fully capable of running Windows XP smoothly. Most are available with either Windows XP or some form of Linux; most cannot/will not run Vista, though a few can and do. They are inexpensive; under $500, and some are available under $400. They are small. Did I already mention that? They are optimized for 'net access. They are adequate for genera use, but their primary attributes are portability and wifi, allowing 'net access with a larger screen than a smartphone while avoiding the weight/bulk of a full notebook PC.
