I was in OIF I and II. I am a women marine and couldn't have felt more proud. I was involved in the worst firefight of OIF II, where we were ambushed and seperated during a convoy to Falujah. I wasn't scared, I was actually calm and had to calm down the 18 and 19 year olds in my vehicle. We were the last vehicle in the convoy, fortunately to be one of the only vehicles not hit by an RPG or rocket. They had this road marked where the army told us, but being in the marines they never listen to anyone and decided to take this route anyway. Lucky for us, we only had about 10 injured and we killed 2 at point blank range and 16 through the search. I belive that there were more Iraqis injured since there were visible sites of dragged bodies through the sand with blood. I look back on this day and thank god that no Marine were killed. I really think that we were stupid by taking that path then sitting there for over 24 hours making sure we could get all of our gear out. We ended up getting mortored about the 23rd hour, about 20 yards from my position. It is just like the movies, I lost my hearing and everything was muffled. I ended up grouping my team and we rushed away from the danger zone.
