makes sense, even tho id rather see them in jail w/o parole for the rest of their lives .
-
Considering the number of people who have been cleared posthumously I don't believe that at all!
-
That would mean doing away with the appeals process. Not sure I think that is a great idea. I agree that having somebody sit on death row for 20+ years is a bit much though.
-
yes, I do.

Okay thier is no point in carrying out apeals after they are dead and evey one under the law has the right to have thier case reviewed if they feel they where unfaily convicted or that the judgement was unfair.
-
No. Supposing it's wrong?

There should be a system going by the percentage of the conviction. DNA would obviously be 99.9%. Then you give the 2 years for appeals based on insufficient defense, etc... that they are allowed and go from there. I definitely agree our tax dollars are wasted on feeding, educating, and medically and dentally taking care of death row inmates for 20 years too long, but there have been occassional exonerations after many years... and to put them to death immediately would make their family victims as well. Then our tax dollars would go to pay for many wrongful death suits.

Yes...it should happen faster. It's silly to waste tax payers money on room and board.

I think the person should get 1 appeal within 3 months and then if it's denied..immediate death penalty. I am tired of spending billions of dollars a year of giving them a college education that I can't afford and free healthcare and dental which I don't get along with everything else. Prisons should be punishment. They are not. Most people live better in prison than we do. It takes about $150-200 a day to house them PLUS the extras..do you know how much we could save. I do understand that VERY few people die that were innocent but that # is FEW and it's nto right to keep people on death row for 30 years and then at time of execution they plead for new trial and all and it starts all over. It's a waste of money and space.

The only time I think an appeal should be given is if there is undesputable proof that the convicted party was givin inadequet defence. In the old days and in some countries they die within days of being convicted.

I also read some where that Charles Manson has been offered parole but rather stay in prison cause he has everything that he could every want. I live in Canada and we obolished the death penalty (with the exception for treason) why should anyone from any country be asked to pay for a killers comfy life when law abiding citizens struggle to make ends meet.
