I have 100 more questions, but I will answer based on what you give me. I'm assuming both are good machines. I'd go for the 3GB RAM. Harddrive space is cheap these days.

250 GB is still a whole lot of space, if all other things are equal I'd take the one with 3GB of RAM.
-
if you are working with lots of graphics and running multiple programs and networking with other computers, then more ram is good. just being online and playing on this site, you dont need a lot of ram.
-
If you use a lot of graphics go for 3GB RAM
-
250 GB is still alot of storage space, 3GB of RAM will make for a very fast PC, go for the RAM :-)
-
Go for the extra RAM, you can always buy an external hard drive if you need it.
-
3 G ram, your motherboard will probably be more advanced. You can put in a new hard drive any time
-
It depends on what you are using it for?! Do you need the drive space? As far as future upgrades, I think 1 gig of ram is a bit cheaper than an extra 100 gigs of drive space. As far as motherboards go, you'll probably be buying a new computer in five (or less) years any way.

Contrary to just about everyone else, I'd definitely go with the extra hard drive space. Hard drives are more expensive to upgrade than Ram and you can guarantee that you'll fill up 250 GB. In fact, you can upgrade the Ram for only $20 or so, while a new hard drive would cost most likely around three times as much.
-
I'll go with the given info and say 3 gb RAM. 250 is a lot of space still.

It is already said, but the extra 100Gb hard drive space will cost less than the extra 1 GB. With normal usage, 2 Gb of Ram is more than enough to support your operating system and a good deal of programs. The only advantage in speed will be noticeable when your programs used all of the 2 Gb RAM. Then it has to revert to the slower harddrive for virtual ram. Even if you would buy 4 Gb of Ram, it will not improve the speed of your system, unless the whole 2 Gb is in use.
