It means that we always project evils and badness onto others, and it is truly terrifying to think that you yourself might be the problem. We objectify emotions and responses and failures - distancing these things from "me"... when you can take your own ego out of the picture and actually see yourself as you actually are, you become closer to the problem, the other person, and yourself.
