  • IF it's a "fair amount", you might be able to make a deal with that thrift shop: Specify or agree on a 50/50 proposition: The proceeds from the sale of those items could be equally divided: 1/2 to the thrift shop; 1/2 to your friend. THEN she can donate the proceeds to whatever cause she wants. If the thrift shop won't agree to that proposal, find a flea market, consignment shop or cause which she is able to work with in a fair and equitable way - even if it's 60?40 or 75/25 in favor of the party who is selling the merchandise.   • I'm learning that a lot of clothes that are donated are bundled into huge bales and shipped to Zimbabwa (sp) where they are sold to street sellers as "dead white men's clothes." Not sure who does this, but there's another thrift in the LA area called "Out of the Closet." They have quite a few stores in LA and one in Long Beach. You could probably make a phone call and save some gas money.
