  • If the conditions can be considered "INHUMANE", then yes in most places.
  • depends on what state you are in and your conscience
  • Even if its not why would you want to do that? Thats pretty cruel to keep em locked up in a car all day with no water, not able to go poop or pee, if you don't keep the windows down, no oxygen, and someone could try and take them. If there isn't a law for this there needs to be one.
  • As of yesterday, that would be a potential misdemeanor in California.
  • It depends on the state you live and your climate, even with the windows cracked open the inside of the vehicle can quickly get hot enough to kill a dog. Personally, I think its cruel.
  • It shouldn't be illegal as long as the dogs are getting adequate care. A cooler with ice alone would not be enough - you would need to install air conditioning (also, don't leave the car running b/c the dogs could put the truck in gear and kill someone or do some serious damage).
  • Sorry, no it is not legal or moral. It is no more legal than leaving a child or two in the truck. Sorry
  • well it depends on if you have the car cooled down for them, and make sure they can eat and drink. also, as long as you don't leave them in the car for too long, where they can becom over heated if you live somewhere hot. otherwise if you have all of that taken care of, you should be fine.
  • It is here is California. Infact it is illegal to keep anyone, small children, eldery person & pets in a truck or car even with the windows open. How would you like it if your dogs kept you in your truck well they went to play?
  • When I first read the question, I thought you were heartless, cruel, inconsiderate..etc. But after reading your comments, I think you really care about them. If you have no other options and go to any lengths to assure their safety and comfort, and as a temporary solution...maybe it wouldn't be TOO bad. But it seems that they would probably get pretty bored after a while. As far as the illegal aspect, I honestly don't know. I know I wouldn't do it to my dog.
  • im not sure if its legal or not but i dont think its fair on the dogs to be locked in a truck all day. they will get bored very easy.
  • In the UK it is illegal if the dogs are suffering in the heat and I believe a member of the public is entitled to break the window to rescue a dying animal if there are no other options. Dogs die in hot cars and trucks, not recommended
  • Depends on the laws where you live. I think it could probably be considered animal cruelty or something like that, even if there isn't a specific law against it, especially if the dogs die in the car on a hot day. Why not get a kennel (a cage) and keep it in the BED of the truck? You can even get a canopy for it so the dogs will have some shade. That way at least they aren't cooped up in the cab of the truck when it's hot out.
  • Yes, especially if it's hot outside because the temperature inside a vehicle is much higher than the temperature outside of it, even with the windows down . You could be charged with Cruelty to animals which varies on the penalty and the severity of the crime by state. Here is a link to the Humane Society that shows pet/animal laws by state http://www.hsus.org/legislation_laws/state_legislation/
  • well yuo shouldnt do that because they can over heat just like children
