Go for a good second-hand with a warranty from a reputable dealer. Let somebody else deal with any of the common new-car problems, and you'll also get more car for the same amount of money as well as not losing as much in depreciation.

Get a Honda, they are cheap and very reliable. Corollas are nice as well but I have owned a 2002 Accord and has been trouble free all the time

I'd go for the one I like the look of better and enjoy driving more. :)
