Can someone explain me the plot of the movie "Deja Vu"? How come Denzel Washington comes back alive? I am totally confused.

Because there are, in a sense, two Denzel Washingtons. The Denzel Washington that goes back in time *does* die, but because he didn't change his own destiny (just the girl's destiny) his self that was living in the present is still alive. Please dont rate this down because it's a spoiler, I'm just answering the question!

Plot spoiler: He came from the future to the past to save the girl, remember the blood and prints the inspectors found at the girls apartment? He had already been there in the past,I do believe he was unsuccessful in the previous attempt, but when he died in the river in the exploding car, he saved the girl and all of the passengers on the ferry. So, the uber-tech/time team did not have to show up again to send him back to the past. He shows up at a much smaller crime scene, still alive from that real time. The event was changed significantly. Awesome movie, I would pay to see it again.
