I thought progressive was a musical term. As in alternative. I've got a CD from ministry of sound called progression... It's pretty good.

Sadly, it seems the 'national anger', to coin a phrase (?), doth spillith outta it's cup, no?! ;-)

Naw...that's "regressive". You got your "gressives" mixed up. But don't be alarmed when it happens; we've been forewarned already. Remember the book "1984"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

OK, Cowboys, I have to admit - I got all gooey inside when I saw the Reagan avatar; that gives you and idea where I'm coming from. It is interesting to me that many conservatives are unashamed of our 'biases', while so many liberals view themselves as aloof from subjective opinion. I digress. I agree with what appears to be your sentiment. The new definition of progressive is lock-step endorsment of the Left and all their positions; anything less is depicted as being "partisan" and "mean-spirited". In 2000, we 'stole the election'; in 2008, it seems we should all join hands and sing 'Kum-ba-ya'.

I think both parties have been guilty of all of the above. It's not a progressive versus non-progressive thing.
