  • When I can't think of anything to write I just write anything: shopping list, a letter to a freind, a synopsis of what I'm supposed to be writing. Each thing I write I try to make a bit more like what I'm supposed to be writing until I'm ready to crack on with the next bestseller :o)
  • Pull out old books or photographs... Read the newspaper... Maybe go out for a while to get some fresh air... Or even talk to someone new while you're at it. =)
  • For me it's outlining and interviewing my characters. Once I have a standard beginning, middle, and end it isn't as hard to keep going. I usually change them later but it's like having a writer's "clothes-line" as you could say. I find it amazing what I can get for my story by just interviewing my character; especially since I'm answering my own questions.
  • I've been known to throw about 4 changes of clothes in a suitcase, take my guitar, my purse, and drive somewhere else. Anywhere, just to change the environment and not return until I am ready to write again! Sometimes it will be a month before I get back to writing!
  • Getting up and taking a break from what you have probably been overdoing. Word association games. Watching movies and paying attention in word rather than in picture. *Try it and you'll know what I mean. Narrate what is happening in your head as if you were reading a screen play rather than watching one already written and played out.
  • think of eveything throw out the bad things and work with what you have.
  • Keep writting...I don't know what to say...I don't know what to say...eventually you will get something.
  • Just keep writing, even if it is mainly rubbish; you can always edit, and there might still be some bits worth keeping. It all adds up.
