  • Depending where you live, you might be already "married" by common law. So, what do you want to tell your kids when they grow up? Do you want them to repeat what you did? Do you rely on his income? What if something happens to him? Do your kids have any benefits from this arrangement? What are you doing to protect your kids' future? It isn't just about you or him anymore.
  • Nowadays marriage is not as important as it used to be. Law protects either member in case of a split. If you feel that you want a PROPER wedding that will cost a handful of dollars, you may drive him away from you. Seventeen years must show you he cares, the engagement ring shows that he cares. Why not work out how much the wedding will cost, sell the engagement ring, combine both sums and the two of you go on holiday to some place you both have always wanted to go.
  • Maybe he prefers for you to lead and for him to follow
  • I use to believe that every man and woman should say their wedding vows, before living together. The past 10 years have changed my mind. why? couples that have lived together were perfectly happy, until the marriage license came into play. For some unknown reason, that piece of paper changes things. I know say this, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
