Because natural causes are not preventable, but human causes are.
-
If it's human caused (and enough humans cared) something could be done to reverse it, if it's not too late. If it's natural causes, there's nothing we can do about it.
-
Because if it is a natural cause, we can't justify putting stringent environmental restrictions on power and manufacturing plant which would reduce our competitive edge with those nations who don't give a damn about the environment and that would cause some very rich people to be a little less rich.
-
If it is caused by humans then we should be able to reverse it...or correct it.
-
The correct diagnosis will prescribe the proper treatment. By finding out the cause we can best find a solution.
-
I think there's two things going on: a) can we do anything about it? This is relevant regardless of whether or not we're causing the phenomenon. If it's going to be bad, and we can prevent it, that deserves attention. b) are we making it worse? If human CO2 production is exacerbating the problem, that deserves our attention.
-
If we know its us we know we can stop it.
-
You can't fix something if you don't know the cause of it....and if it is natural and can not be changed....then we need to learn how to deal with it if we can....much like human illnesses....
-
Like several of the others have said, if it's caused by us, we can work to fix it. If it's just natural causes, there is less we can do about it.
-
Thing is if it's just part of a natural cycle of things why throw trillions of dollars (our dollars!) at it yo?...

The envornment ans other life is what helps sustain human life. It is is quickly dyign away, chances are we are going to follow next. Almost everythign here is related to soemthign else, so loosign one plant might mean that five others die, which can effect that specific enviornment which can effect the sourroundign enviornment and so on. It's important to know the cause so we can stop it. All life on this planet is important, espcially since msot of it sustains human life. So, I suppose, that's the big deal. The less you do to help the enviornment, the less you're doing to help yourself.

It is a brainwash tool to control societies with fears & lies. My 2 cents.
