For what? For my camera, several times a month. For my flashlights, a couple times a year. For my smoke alarms, once a month regardless of state of charge (I then use the old battery for guitar foot pedals), for my cars, about once every 4 years.

Very infrequent nowadays. Only for the 4 clocks. 4 AA cells a year does it. The 3 windup clocks need no batteries. I have switched over to rechargeable batteries completely for all other purposes.

Quite often...children's toys eat them you know.
