You won't believe this. In the last meeting with my boss (a male), me, and my two associates (one male and one female)... my boss went into this whole training module. He began talking - gratuitously - about cars. I could keep up with the analogy, of course, but was amazed at the extent of this discussion and the seeming bonding of the two men during this conversation. In nearly self-bravado, my boss asks the other female associate if she is following. She, obliviously, says no. My boss starts to restructure his explanation. The other associate, seemingly spreading his feathers like a pea.cock directs his attention toward her, insisting he has a better metaphor for boss' explanation. Then he launches into a whole thing about... hand mixers. Yes, 2008. Even the professional environment isn't safe from the "woman's place"... Gender discrimination is both hurtful and dangerous.

Staying at home, looking after the kids(if there are any), doing the cleaning, the washing, the shopping, the cooking and looking after the man when he gets home from work. Well i do the cooking the ironing help do the shopping and cleaning and look after the kids when i can(should be could single again) to give her a break. Why pray tell? All things should be equal and all things shared. Then again i'm a modern minded man.

I'm seeing more and more women who have to do it all - all the management in the home including child rearing AND bringing home the bacon at 20% less pay. When they get older, they are increasingly becoming the primary parents to their own grandchildren when their children fail to do it properly. This is supported by statistics as well, especially in the lower middle class. This is not a very healthy system, especially if one is concerned about the future of their society.

My family was pretty hip so education was a big deal for my mother, and our family, but in Texas it was more a passive spot where women were expected to manage house, kids, and some emphasis on work, usually within the family business' first, or not bringing income. Not very realistic today no matter where people live within the U.S.

In general I used to think that women should stay home and take care of the house and the kids, but I know that has changed greatly over the years.
