I did not believe in the boogeyman. However I was strongly certain that 'something' inhabited the closet at night, and fairly certain that something was under my bed and would grab my feet if I walked near the bed. At night I would turn off the light switch at the door, take a running few steps and leap into bed. I would stay in bed until morning. I was convinced that these 'things' existed in the dark, when no one else was around.
