  • 1. it's just not traditional. this is also why many americans would be opposed to a black, asian, hispanic, jewish, hindu, or any other president not close to the previous ones. I'm not saying this is how i feel, or that it's a good excuse, but people have a hard time excepting change and we've kind of made this image of a president as a white, male, christian president 2. Woman, though not always, do tend to get more emotional than men. before anyone immediately says NO!, think about it, who's more likely to cry at a movie, be moved by a gift of flowers, be angry when not receiving a phone call. while i don't mean to compare running a country to a relationship, which i kinda did, a female president may react more brashly out of her emotions without first thinking a matter through enough, say during an attack on America (don't bring up Bush guys, this isn't the same thing). As well, if we were attacked, of course we'd retaliate, but its possible the female president may rus so quickly in to a counterattack, that the troops are illprepared, illtrained, or just not organized enough. other examples work as well, say at a peace committe, a woman may be driven by emotions and say somehting offensive more easily 3. Similar to the tradition reason (number 1), within some people in America is the lingering image of a culture we outlived legally only 50 years ago that men are superior to woman. with this mentality, only a man would deserve to run a country, as the rightful gender. again, i disagree with these reasons, but they're logical reaosns that many Americans may have for being opposed to a female president. I for one would wvote for a female if her ideas were the strongest and i most clearly identified with her beliefs over the other candidates.
