I'm listening to them right now, and I must say... I have absolutely no idea. I am sure that they wanted to pursue individual careers. Paul Simon became huge. But they will remain... amazing -- always!

Lovers quarrel... they are both tops, and niether will go bottoms for the other... sad sexual stalemate : )

i think they bickered quite alot which eventually led them to go their seperate ways. At least they managed to create beautiful music and carried on with live concerts though :)

Simon knew he could go it alone and make more money - and if it did not work out they could always do an Old Friends Concert

The main reason was that as they became more successful, each one believed he was the reason for the success and the other was a side-kick. When they both refused to compromise on a song for what turned out to be their final album, the split was inevitable. Another factor was when Art took over an acting job that was supposed to go to Paul. They have held several concerts together over the years, and remain cordial.

Couldn't get along together, egos got in the way, such a shame, they made great music together and their voices really complemented each other.
