I warn you now, due to personal experience, I am terribly biased. I would lock the b*stard up and throw away the key, to be frank

If the crime is committed Monday, Thursday or Saturday--the death penalty. If the crime is committed Tuesday, Friday or Sunday--life in prison. If the crime is committed Wednesday--100 hours of community service and court costs. That way the cops would only have to be alert on Wednesdays, and we'd see about those who assert that capital punishment and long sentences don't deter crime.

Any person that has harmed a child, (especially sexually), should be executed! I have absolutely no tolerance for predators of children.
-
Too many adults are set free every day and living in our neighborhoods, all over this Country and others. In my opionion there is NO 3 strikes your out, in this case. Anyone who molests a child, deserves life in prison, so he can never harm another child and traumatize them for life. Lock em up,throw away the key, and lets keep our children safer. The courts seem to be too easy on these monsters..

Harming an innocent child is a serious thing. I think that people shouldn't have a second chance.. but then I think, what if someone was framed to have commited that crime, and it wasn't their fault? They don't deserve to be locked away forever.. But grownups who are true criminals should never ever be set free. Any idiot could be like "I've changed, I've realised my mistake, I will never do something like that again". And the next thing you know, there's been another crime commmited.

There was an intereseting question here yesterday that sparked a lot of debate - I can't find it I'm afraid but it was something along the lines of should a proven sex offender have his bits cut off. The answers varied, as you might imagine, and some focused on the proof of guilt and the possibility of being found innocent at a later date - we drifted off into the death penalty for murder etc as well. Here is a case for castration in my book! And that's assuming they shold be let out in the first place. Sorry if I offend anyone by that.

caught in the act? take em out back and hang em. not gaught in the act,go with dna no appeal. 1 strike your out.the world is way too leniant.never set them free, they'll be dealt within prison.
-
If the person is a harmful person and will not change then no, they should be locked up for life. BUT, if a person DID change, then they should be free to go but watched.
-
no way should they get a second chance. in my opinion they should be locked up forever and never get out.

first of all what was the crime? second of all why should we assume that when liberated this person will go and hurt another child? Your question is a little dangerous because by extension include people who don't really need to be included on it. If the tiger from Disney goes to prison for punching that kid, should he never go out again? Grownup is 18+ (21+?) kid is less than that. a common school fight can put one person in prison for the rest of their live according to you? we need a lot of "if's"

A grownup who has committed a crime against a child should never be set free. Especially if it is rape, gross sexual imposition, etc etc. As to your next question, no we as society even though we appoint judges, etc do not add to the next crime by setting them free. We in fact do not set them free, the parole authority does.

First off, I was beaten severely as a child but my dad was never convicted. Just because I was never molested, that doesn't mean that what happened to me was any better. Now, let's run through this logically... Is our justice system perfect? Is EVERY SINGLE person in prison guilty? If you answer yes to either question, you are more dangerous to society than they are. You are delusional; commit yourself to the nearest psychiatric ward and take your meds. Do you believe in rehab or punishment? If the former, then they get the 3-strikes protection or NOBODY does. If the latter, then all guilty people should get life sentences; they'll just commit whatever crime again. This is doubly tricky for Christians; God forgives but humans don't? And then there are the untreatable mentally-ill, like my father. Should the certifiably insane be imprisoned for their existence? We have to be VERY careful to avoid becoming monsters ourselves. You can't claim the moral high ground with blood on your hands, nor can you rule from the fires of hatred. If you can't apply the law rationally and indifferently, you shouldn't judge.

lock them up and throw away the key. things like rape and stuff- they should be executed-absalutely gross! how would you feel if this pshyco can up to you and started you-know-whating to you?

Depending on the severity of the crime and the number of victims, I'd say they should get one chance (except in the case of people with multiple victims or people whose crimes are so ghastly the only solution is to throw away the key). Paedophiles should go to prison, do their time and therapy, go before a risk assessment squad before parole (with the idea that if there's a risk, they're not let out) and then released. That's their chance to change. They commit the crime again and they're right back in there forever. I think there is a misconception of pedophilia out there too. Not every child molester molests again, just as not every murderer kills again and not every shoplifter shoplifts again. It should also be noted that there are two kinds of paedophiles: situational - that is, they prefer adults but the child is there when they are horny, and the other sort which name I can't remember off the top of my head. That sort refers to the guys that are genuinely attracted to children. While the crimes of situational paedophiles are abhorrent, they are less likely to reoffend than the other sort, where the attraction to children is deeply ingrained (many see this as meaning they are incurable, but I don't think so. Everybody is capable of impulse control, introversion and relearning behaviours and cognitive patterns - it just takes far longer to 'fix' them. During this time I would possibly recommend chemical castration. I'm greatly opposed to physical castration). I think some of the behaviour of people protesting against these criminals returning to the public from jail is atrocious. It's best to allow them to get on with their lives following prison rather than get in their face and harrass them, drive them out of town and deny them jobs. I trust the police and probation officers to keep a good eye on them.

NO they should not be set free. I can't recall the percentage of repeat offenders (child molesters), but it's really high. Repeat offender = they got CAUGHT again. I think they need to be locked up for good, maybe hospitalization. But, whatever...they should not be allowed to be free again. Children who are abused suffer their entire lives. Why should the offender have freedom?
-
This is a very broad question and there are always circumstances where there is exceptions to the rule. But to me, once someone has crossed that line, they have forfeited any rights to their consideration over the child. Child molesters do not cure easily. We must take that into consideration. They need to be monitered and watched for the rest of their stinking lives if not locked up for good as a rule.

child molestors should do life!
