  • You really have to decide for yourself. The J is a little smaller, and some people like the compact design. Other people like the larger, normal controller.
  • The button-configuration on the "J" (which I'm assuming is "type-s") is slightly different; people generally like what they started on. I prefer the older type (white/black buttons up top - chunkier controller) but most my friends like the type-s (white/black on bottom, smaller controller).
  • It depends on your hand size and if you are used to playing on the PC (you like the wide spread out version, moving your fingers) or you have played Console more often (smaller, dont have to spread your fingers as much). And for those of you still confused on what a "J" is they really mean Type- "S" for small.
  • i think it is the cordless regular controller
  • The controller-J (I thought it was S...) is a lot smaller, the white and black buttons are closer to your right thumb this time, and the joysticks are flatter, and seem to be a little bit better controlled. The size is a lot smaller, and i honestly believe that the Controller-J is more durable, because: 1) its smaller so its harder for stuff to bounce around 2) and, ive played with both, same amount of time, Controller-J's just last longer.
  • X-box was released with big, clumsy controllers that were not only cumbersome but of poor quality and design. These controllers (dubbed 'Duke' or type-D) were eventually replaced by the smaller and redesigned type-S. A sleeker design, it tends to fit the human hand a little better (sorry, Covenant) and the button layout is quite efficient, placing the lesser used buttons (white, black, start, back) along the grip of the button so that you retract your thumb to press them instead of stretching it. Although many may be dubious, having had the Start button in the center of the controller since NES, but once you get your hands on type-S it fits like a glove. But the point is this: type-S is the replacement for the original controller, not an alternate. X-box made a mistake and tried to correct it so in Microsoft's eye, S is better, and the majority of X-box players agree. I believe that ol' Duke is now out of production.
