an ECU is the chip that controls things like HP/gear and gas mileage. It actualy has very many functuions. Depending on the vehicle, they can be very hard to find. Try looking in junkyards and places like a Pull-N-Save, where you pull the parts yourself, or ordering one through a dealer. It's probably best to have a mechanic replace it, but if you have a good manual and the proper tools, it can be done at home. I personaly don't drive cars that are any newer than the late 70's, so I don't really have to fight with all those electronic gizmos and gadgets,
