You need to complete the square and put it into "vertex" form, (x+a)²+b. 2(x²-3x)+5 First, factor out the 2. 2(x²-3x+2.25-2.25)+5 Now you divide the second term by 2, square it, then add and subtract it. 2(x²-3x+1.5)-5.5+5 Take the -2.25 out of the brackets. Remember to multiply by two. Now you have a perfect square inside the brackets. 2(x-2.25)²-0.5 There is your answer. The vertex is (-2.25, -0.5).
