  • If you go by "feel", then by the time you need new brakes you'll also need to have the rotors turned, which would add to the expense. If you don't trust the dealer's mechanic, then see another one, and perhaps he will show you how he can view the wear remaining on the existing brake pads and about how long you have before you wait too long and damage the rotors.
