No Lime wire is not free I am a member but I am afraid I cannot remember exactly how much i paid about 25 dollars I think but do not take that as gospel.

Yes, it is! There is also a "premium" version, Limewire Pro.

there is a free download version of limewire, but it does not have all the features of the buy-version of limewire (i do not think it gets as many results as the buy-version either). As Firebrand wrote, it is not expensive if you purchase it, and the free download program will encourage you to buy it.

All of the ads I have seem for Limewire says it is free. Beware -- my daughter downloaded it and it destroyed her laptop. Maybe it was Limewire, or maybe another issue?
