If I wore a red clown's nose to the initial meeting when called for jury duty, would I be automatically excused?

Not necessarily! If the case involved a clown you would be construed as being sympatheic to his problem. Mr Bill

I wouldn't expect so. You would probably be ordered to take it off, and if you did not do so you would be at risk of being charged with contempt of court. The courts don't like people doing silly things to get out of jury duty.
