  • It also depends on which end zone the ball is fumbled. If the offense is on their own three yard line and fumbles the ball out of their own end zone, it should be a safety and the defense gets the ball after a free kick from the 35. If it's the defenses end zone, then it is a touchback and defense gets the ball at the 20.
  • I would say that the offense maintains the ball on the goaline and the game resumes with another down added and loss of yards for the offense.
