I need to go on welfare, could I possibly use crack for a day or so in order to convince the welfare people that I had/have a drug habit and really need their help?

Not a good idea...about as practical as playing Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic pistol. There's no such thing as "temporary crack use". Why not just apply for welfare up front?
