Once a week I volunteer in an office that helps homeless and low income people. So I feel like I'm doing something that matters.

Yes, we are building a straw bale off grid house, with waste materials that we had local farmers bale for us.

I think so. I work with special needs kids. I teach dance and body movement :)

In life, yes...absolutely. Right now...not as much. But who knows? The beauty of it all is that sometimes we say and do things that matter very much to others when we don't even know it. Each of our lives touches others' and so we must always remember that.

I am always doing SOMETHING that matters .. they simply vary in degrees of importance, that's all. Is finding a family a home something that matters? You may not think so, but that family certainly does. Does volunteering for charity work matter? Probably not to most people, but if it puts a smile on someone's face, it matters to me. I suppose that it really matters on your perspective. ;-)
