I would recommend you try cherry tomatoes. Your yields will be constant and the size of the plant makes it ideal for indoor usage. Also, they tend to be better at dealing with minor neglect than more fussy varieties.

First off you need to make sure that the variety is crack resistant. Some good varieties that might work for you are: Pixie, Patio, Toy Boy, Small Fry or Tiny Tim. These varieties work well because the plants don't get really huge and the tomatoes are rather small and ripen quickly. But be sure to stake them upright so that the whole plant gets light.
