I went from 285lbs for my max bench press to 315lbs in about 4 days, but it took me like 2 to 3 months just to get my weight that high before I made that jump. When I first started lifting I could only bench about 125lbs and max at 195lbs or 205lbs. I don't lift anymore because of my hernia, but I know that I could still get at least 215lbs.

To really benefit from your bench press is to have a goal written down as to where you want to be, and work over an extended period of time to get there rather than pushing yourself to fast. If you make a big jump, you will risk injury. If you work at 250 as an example oover a period of time and clear it comfortably over a set of 20, then go to 260 and so on and so forth. You could probably make a jump of 25 lbs or so in a week, but then again are you getting good reps? best to you
