According to the McCain-Palin campaign , crossing party lines to do what is right for all Americans (even when you go against your own party) is a Maverick Quality, and something that they aspire to do themselves. So using my "Republican Dictionary" as a guide, I would have to call it a case of a True Maverick in action…
