Hydrocodone is prescribed in one of three strengths. As far as I know it is usually prescribed with Acetametaphin but can come combined in other forms such as codeine. It is, as stated by an earlier comment, as simply the generic version of the drug Vicodin. Vicodin is a class III u.s.a. restricted drug as it is considered highly addictive and the side affects can be alarming if taken over a sustained period of time. Even when I broke my hand, the hospital would only give me the lowest dosage available with only 10 tablets. One to two tablets taken every 4-6 hours is not going to last very long.

Hydrocodone is an orally active narcotic analgesic and antitussive. Sales and production of this drug have increased significantly in recent years, as have diversion and illicit use. Hydrocodone is commonly available in tablet, capsule and syrup form." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocodone
